Faculty Bergen University College, Means ”the course of one’s life “ I
have a MSc in applied mathematics and Diploma of
Education and my research field is ocean acoustics. (picture1,picture2, picture3) I
was granted a PhD scholarship at Nansen Environmental research Centre in
1996. I worked then part time at After
the first year of my teaching carrier, I was offered a teaching/research
position at Engineering Faculty. I love teaching and I
believe it is possible to make mathematics interesting and easier to
understand by practical examples from our daily life. I have written some
reports to explain this issue. I believe it is possible to make mathematics
so easy that everyone can understand it. My inspiration is from a sentence of
Bahá’u’lláh: Regard man as a mine rich in
gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its
treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.” Bahá’u’lláh I
was rewarded the prize “lecturer of the year” in 1998/1999 by the students at
Bergen university college and 2005/2006 at Mathematical Sciences at
University of Bergen after a 4 months substitute position I
travel often and have been in Denmark(12 times),
Sweden (9 times), London (8times), Sydney(7 times), Nederland(4 times),
Crete(4 times), Valencia (4 times), Barcelona(twice), Germany(twice),
Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, France (Paris, Lyon) . Most of all I love Island
of Crete and Kiama area in New South Wales. I
was guest researcher at Institute of Applied mathematics, University of
Crete, Greece (June 1996, 3 months) and have also been guest lecturer at
applied mathematics department, University of Valencia, Spain twice (October
2001, 3 weeks , May 2003, 4 weeks, April 2010, 2 weeks, March 2012, 2 weeks). I
work currently at where
I teach Calculus
and its applications for 1.
year students. There is 300
students who take the course. I
am extern member of examination committee of Bodø University , And University of Tromsø. My
kind parents and two wonderful brothers live in a beautiful town, Kiama, in I
play football twice a week and swim 3-4 times a week. One the best time of my
life in this world is to be with my nephews, brothers and my parents. And the
best time of my life has been to be with my soul mate, my wonderful wife. I
love planting roses and trees. My favourite fruit is Figs and actually I have
managed to have two figs trees (black and green figs) in my small garden even
if in such a cold winter as in Norway. |
